Joan Shea Green passed away on October 12, 2016, in Livingston, New Jersey. Joan was born on August 11, 1929, in Springdale, Connecticut to Rose Cribbin Shea and Claude James Shea. She graduated from Greenwich High School and then earned a bachelor's degree from New York University and a masters degree from the University of Bridgeport. While at NYU, Joan met her husband Bill, who predeceases her by two years. They married in 1954 and raised their family in Bedford, New York. They were married for 60 years. Joan Shea Green passed away on October 12, 2016, in Livingston, New Jersey. Joan was born on August 11, 1929, in Springdale, Connecticut to Rose Cribbin Shea and Claude James Shea. She graduated from Greenwich High School and then earned a bachelor's degree from New York University and a masters degree from the University of Bridgeport. While at NYU, Joan met her husband Bill, who predeceases her by two years. They married in 1954 and raised their family in Bedford, New York. They were married for 60 years. Joan worked as a teacher, first at the Julian Curtis School in Greenwich and then at Harrison Elementary School in Harrison, New York for 25 years. Joan was also the Treasurer of the Harrison Teacher's Credit Union. After retiring, Joan spent much of her time volunteering, eventually becoming the President of the Greenwich Women's Club and the President of the Greenwich Council of Catholic Women. Joan, and her friends, spent many hours laughing and playing bridge, meeting monthly for over 40 years. Joan is survived by her sister Sheila (Les) Russo of Greenwich; her brother Claude Shea of Sterling, Massachusetts; her son Bill Green of St. Petersburg, Florida; her daughter Elizabeth (Vinny) Reilly of Darien, Connecticut; her daughter Kathy (Michael) O'Connor of Livingston, New Jersey and her daughter Kerry David of Livingston, New Jersey, as well as 5 grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart: Matthew, Katie, Meghan, Erin and Kelly. Visitation will be held at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch Street, Greenwich, CT from 10:00-11:30a.m., Friday, October 14, 2016, to be immediately followed by a 12:00 funeral mass at St. Timothy Chapel, 1034 North Street, Greenwich, CT. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
